Astronomy Club visit of classes VI-X to Sariska
An educational tour was organized for the students of classes VI to X (Astronomy Club) to Sariska,Alwar, Rajasthan for Night Sky Watch in April 2016. It was an overnight sky watch programme which form part of the learning module of astronomy club. The students were shown various constellations and have a close look at Jupiter and its three moons, Mars and Saturn. The students were taught how to calculate the time of rising and setting of various planets. The visit was conducted in collaboration with Space Technology & Education Pvt Ltd, an agency specialized in organizing such educational tours for the school students.
A visit for the hostellers to Lotus Temple was organized in April 2016. 20 girls accompanied by Hostel Warden.
Historical Walk to Qutub Minar
Students of class VIII accompanied by 04 teachers went on a historical walk to Qutub Minar in March 2016. The walk was conducted by a famous historian Ms. Subhadra Sen Gupta. She familiarized the students with the historical
background of the monuments in the premises.
Visit to Jantar Mantar
Nine students of Astronomy Club accompanied by Ms. Sushma Sharma, TGT (SST) visited Jantar Mantar in February 2016. The visit was organized in collaboration with SPACE. Representatives of SPACE briefed the students about the
working of the Yantras like Samrat Yantra and Sun Dial etc. The students studied the system of calculating time and direction of various objects. They calculated the shadow falling on the yantras and measured the distance and time. They also measured the local time of Delhi and marked the difference between the local time of Delhi and the IST. The trip was very educative and interesting.
