The school, in association with Chakra Dialogues Foundation, organized workshop on the topic ‘Drug Education’ for the students of classes VIII-XII on Aug 20, 2204. Mr Subimal Bannerjee of Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses (SPYM) was the resource person. He is a Commerce Graduate from Delhi University, with 25 years of experience in leather export management. Over the years, he held various leadership roles, including Export, Factory, and Production Manager. In 2015, after a successful corporate career, he transitioned into social work, focusing on counselling and community service.
The session started with the felicitation of the guest speakers. Thereafter, the students were addressed by Ms Shalini Khanna and Lt Col Sinha who acquainted them with the objectives and goals of the session. They gave a brief overview of their foundation and talked about strengthening India’s Comprehensive National Power. They also discussed the range of online short courses offered by their foundation. One of their main focuses is empowering the youth of the nation by making them the ‘job providers’. The resource person Mr Subimal Bannerjee discussed the need for drug education and life skills in a student’s growth. He shared his personal experiences of drug addiction and how it affected his physical body and mind and urged the students to make wise decisions instead of allowing themselves to be readily swayed by detrimental temptations such as drugs.
He also introduced his foundation’s book
‘Navchetna’ which addresses societal issues like drug awareness, life skills
and parental guidance. An interactive concourse ignited the inquisitiveness of
the students. At last, the guests encouraged all the students to develop
strength and make wise decisions in life. The informative session culminated
with a vote of thanks proposed by the school counsellor.
