A financial literacy
workshop was conducted at Army Public School, NOIDA, on 27 September 2024, for
students in Classes IX and XI-XII, aimed at enhancing their financial
awareness. The resource person for the workshop was Dr. Swati Sharma, an
accomplished Assistant Professor at IMS Ghaziabad, who holds a Ph.D. in Finance
and possesses over a decade of teaching experience. Dr. Sharma is recognized
for her ability to simplify complex financial concepts, making her an ideal
speaker for the session.
The primary objective
of the event was to educate students about the importance of responsible
financial management. Dr. Sharma emphasized that financial literacy involves
making informed decisions regarding budgeting, saving, and investing, which are
essential for achieving financial independence and security. She highlighted
the significance of establishing emergency funds, differentiating between needs
and wants, and effectively managing debt.
An interactive game
was conducted to demonstrate the concept of risk-taking in finance, in which
students participated enthusiastically by making decisions based on hypothetical
scenarios. Those demonstrating strong decision-making skills were rewarded with
gifts, illustrating that calculated risks can lead to positive outcomes. All
participants received a certificate of participation from IMS Ghaziabad.
The workshop concluded
with a lively Q&A session, during which students posed insightful questions
regarding financial planning and investment opportunities. Overall, the
workshop provided students with a solid foundation in financial literacy and
motivated them to make informed financial decisions.
