A workshop on Cyber
Security and Hygiene was conducted at Army Public School, NOIDA, on 30 September
2024, for students of classes IX-XII, aimed at raising awareness about cyber
security. The resource person for the workshop was Dr. Rakshit Tandon, a
renowned Cyber Security Evangelist, National Cyber Security Expert and Crime
Investigator specializing in Cyber Forensics and Ethical Hacking for various
law enforcement agencies in India.
During the session,
Dr. Tandon shed light on the darker aspects of social media, emphasizing the
serious consequences of hacking, excessive mobile phone usage and gaming
addiction. He underscored the importance of maintaining a balance between
online and offline life, urging students to mentally detox after engaging with
digital content. Dr. Tandon also discussed the lasting impact of digital
footprints, which can adversely affect one’s reputation and future
opportunities. He distinguished between freedom of speech and freedom of abuse,
highlighting the necessity of exercising online responsibilities. He warned
students about the risks of bank theft through OTP sharing with unknown
callers, individuals, or links, stressing the importance of vigilance when sharing
sensitive financial information.
The workshop
concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, during which students asked
thoughtful questions related to cyber security and hygiene. Dr. Tandon provided
insightful responses, addressing their concerns and sharing real-life examples
to reinforce key points discussed during the session.
