The
13th Annual ITIHAAS Summit
happened on 17th August 2023
after a hiatus of three long years. Mr Abhishek Sharma TGT Social Science, rep
of this school attended the same. The theme was Sustainability. The prominent
guests invited were
Dr.
Vandana Shiva and Dr. Archana Varma. Dr. Vandana Shiva is best known for her
efforts towards the seed saving mission that she began, which is now known as
Navdanya, a reference to the nine celestial planets and nine nutritional
plants. Navdanya has now become a repository of old heritage seeds which have
been kept in cultivation mainly for their nutritional benefits.
Dr.
Archana Varma is an IAS officer of 1995 batch, from Assam cadre who now is
leading as Director of National Water Mission, under the Ministry of Jal
Shakti.
Ms.
Monica Banerjee heads the Inter Globe Foundation which is also dedicated to the
conservation of natural and cultural heritage. She spoke about the concept of `judaav’
where everyone is included in the thinking and working towards conservation.
She also advised that organizations need to look beyond the piece-meal approach
towards heritage conservation as part of their CSR efforts, and move towards a
continuous approach.
