Army Public School, NOIDA, hosted the
fifth edition of its Model United Nations Conference for the session 2024-25 on
5 and 6 July 2024. The APS MUN is a prestigious annual event organized by the
school, attracting 100s of delegates from across India. The event commenced
with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and tree planting by the Chief Guest,
Ms Nemisha Kawatra, alongside the school Principal, Ms Indrani Neogi and
Members of the Executive Board. Ms Indrani Neogi extended a warm welcome to the
Chief Guest, the Executive Board Members and the Student Delegates.
Following the opening ceremony, the
event transitioned seamlessly into committee sessions, where delegates
addressed critical global issues. The UNGA's agenda focused on ‘Redefining New Age War Crimes with Special
Emphasis on Cyber Warfare’. The UNSC deliberated on the ‘Israel-Palestine
Conflict and the Legitimate Demand for Ceasefire. The UNHRC debated ‘Racism, Xenophobia, and Related Forms of
Intolerance,’ while the
AIPPM discussed the ‘Need for a
Uniform Civil Code’. Additionally, the International Press provided
comprehensive media coverage of the entire event. These committees tackled a
range of national and international issues, offering each delegate a unique and
enriching experience.
The
event culminated with a closing ceremony, marking the end of stimulating
debates and the beginning of new friendships. The award distribution ceremony
recognized outstanding delegates for their exceptional contributions and
performance throughout the conference. The APS Model United Nations experience successfully
immersed students in real-world scenarios, fostering critical thinking and a
deeper understanding of complex global issues.
