On 12 Jul 2024,
Army Public School NOIDA conducted a comprehensive mock drill focused on
earthquake preparedness. The initiative aimed to enhance the safety and
readiness of our students, faculty, and staff in the event of a seismic
emergency.
The mock drill
commenced promptly at 10:00 am, initiated with an announcement simulating
earthquake tremors. Students and staff swiftly enacted the ‘Drop, Cover, and
Hold On’ technique to protect themselves from potential hazards. Following
this, evacuation procedures were immediately implemented, guiding everyone to
designated safe zones identified during prior risk assessments. Teachers and
designated emergency response personnel efficiently guided students through
evacuation routes, emphasizing calmness and order throughout the process.
Post-drill, a
debriefing session was conducted to evaluate the drill's effectiveness. The key
takeaways included the need for continued practice and awareness-building among
newer students and staff members. The drill allowed participants to practice
swift and safe evacuation techniques, reinforcing the importance of
preparedness and quick response in earthquake scenarios. The mock drill for
earthquake preparedness at Army Public School NOIDA was a significant step
towards enhancing our school's safety protocols.
